Dear Students, Parents, and Teachers,

Welcome to North Lawndale College Prep's “Rise through Reading” website!

We are so excited to launch this new website that can be used by parents, students, and teachers. Our hope is that this website can provide resources, information, and inspiration to you from the world of reading because reading is, simply, an eye-opening, life-changing experience.

At NLCP, the mascot is the Phoenix, and our mantra is “We rise out of the ashes.”  The Phoenix is a mythical Egyptian bird that is reborn out the ashes of its own death. What a befitting slogan for a school that offers students a college-bound opportunity to arise from the ashes of their own experiences, their own hopes — a school that grows independent learners who attend college and come back in service to their communities.

As our motto, we choose “Rise through Reading” because we know that one of the only ways that a student can truly be a Phoenix is if he/she rises and soars on the wings of reading. If the student is a good reader, he/she can accomplish anything.

Enjoy!
