Things Happen If No Knowledge
THINK is a sexuality education program designed by students,
parents, faculty and staff at North Lawndale College Prep.
There are three primary goals for the impact of the program among
students at NLCP: •
- To reduce the number of sexually transmitted infections.
- To reduce the number of unintended pregnancies.
- To promote healthy behavior with regard to sexuality and relationships.
Specifically, the THINK program
aims to:
• provide accurate information that young people need to make healthy
choices with regard to sexuality;
• increase knowledge and skills for avoiding unintended pregnancy
and sexually transmitted diseases and infections;
• encourage learning about sexuality issues that goes beyond factual
information and that will be useful throughout participants’ lives;
and
• help participants develop the skills necessary to address issues
of sexuality as they mature into healthy adults.
Freshmen & sophomore students at NLCP receive THINK instruction as
part of their Health class during one trimester of the 2006-2007 school
year.
Juniors receive THINK instruction during their LIFT study hall periods
2 days per week.
