North Lawndale College Prep
PO Box 23400 Chicago, IL 60623-2640

Over the years, your generosity has enabled North Lawndale College Prep to graduate scholars with a 99% college acceptance rate. This year, I am asking that you continue your support of our mission as we graduate the class of 2025!

This year, our seniors have had a total of 267 college acceptances to 77 different colleges. 82% of our seniors are enrolled in a 2/4 year college and the remaining 18% are pursuing trade programs. 98% of our seniors completed their financial aid applications, earning a total of $6.5 million dollars in scholarship money!

Throughout the year, we have supported scholars to help them successfully cross the graduation stage and set them up for success in college. This has included programming such as:

  • Dual credit classes and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • College tours throughout the year, including a week long spring break tour to southern HBCUs
  • College counseling, including support with applications and FAFSA
  • Young Scholars Professional Day, where all of our scholars attended a day of seminars tailored to their grade level, learning about various careers and practicing leadership.
  • A pilot entrepreneurship program where our scholars are running their own business!

Leo Williams ‘25

Leo Williams is a shining example of leadership in action at NLCP. As president of the Peace Warriors—a student-led restorative justice group—and captain of the track team, Leo has embraced every opportunity to lead and grow. He credits these experiences with shaping his character, building his confidence, and preparing him for success beyond high school.

During his time at NLCP, Leo was actively involved in transformative programs like the Peace Warriors and the Phoenix PACT, an NLCP scholarship initiative that makes college affordable for our students.

In the Peace Warriors, Leo had the chance to speak with congressman Danny Davis as well as Senator Lakesia Collins about how to end gun violence in North Lawndale. He also helped train more than a 100 new peace warriors throughout his tenure, making sure to grow the beloved community.

Leo says he’s grateful to NLCP for challenging him to rise to a higher standard—a standard he now proudly holds himself to every day.

Leo’s next chapter begins at Grand Valley State University, a Phoenix PACT partner school, where he’ll attend college with no out-of-pocket costs. He’ll head to campus this summer for a pre-college program and a chance to try out for the track team. Leo plans to major in sports management and minor in business.

We need your support to keep uplifting our scholars and preparing them for their futures as transformational leaders. In honor of the class of 2025, please consider a gift:

  • $5,000 or more supports 5 after school programs for a year.
  • $1,500 provides materials such as books and calculators for ACT support.
  • $500 will provide 2 classes with daily supplies for a year.
  • $250 will support an in-state college trip.
  • $100 will pay for a scholar’s classroom supplies for the year.

When you donate before June 30th, you will allow NLCP to close our current school year successfully as the class of 2025 walks across the stage! Additionally, you will support our summer programming to ensure a successful transition for our seniors and rising underclassmen so they are set up for a successful school year. Thank you for being an ambassador of education and supporting our scholars and their futures.
